Lean More about how Pro+Active can help you

How Can Massage Benefit You?

Massage Therapy offers a wide range of benefits that can positively impact both physical and mental well-being. Massage Therapy can help relieve muscle tension, improve circulation, and alleviate stiffness and pain. Massage Therapy can aid many conditions including chronic pain, nervous system conditions, inflammatory conditions, and many more. Beyond the physical benefits, Massage Therapy can help the nervous system drop into a parasympathetic state, allowing for relaxation, recovery and overall well-being.

What is Fascial Stretch Therapy®?

FST® is a whole-body approach to optimizing flexibility, improving functional mobility, athletic performance, and decreasing pain. FST® differs from other forms of stretching by addressing the fascial nets in the body and using joint traction to increase joint range of motion and muscle elongation.

How Can FST Benefit You?

1. Decrease pain
2. Improve posture and alignment 3. Increase range of motion
4. Improve sleep and relaxation

What to Expect During Treatment?

Most FST® techniques are performed on the massage table clothed and without oil. Wearing stretchy, athletic clothes is necessary for optimal movement. You will be queued throughout the treatment to breathe as you are moved in and out of the stretches. FST® also includes contract-relax PNF neuromuscular stretching techniques to facilitate further increases in range of motion and releases. Lastly, elastic straps are used to secure the opposite limb to the table to stabilize the limb during treatment. FST® and hands on massage therapy treatment work complementary to help you recovery and promote wellbeing.

Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) Treatment - What it is and who can benefit :

About:

The temporomandibular joint (TMJ) is commonly known as the jaw. This joint facilitates talking, chewing, drinking, and moves in 4 different directions. The TMJ has a direct impact on the joints and muscles of the cervical spine.

The TMJ connects on both the right and left to the skull just in front of the ear. Many people commonly experience discomfort in this specific area, and lower down into the cheeks, floor of the mouth, and into the temple region.

Possible symptoms of TMJ Dysfunction:

  • pain in and around the jaw
  • headaches, migraines, ear aches
  • dizziness
  • difficulty or pain with talking, chewing, swallowing
  • clicking with jaw movements
  • plugged ears

What Treatment Looks Like:

During a TMJ treatment, focus is around the neck, chest, scalp, and external and internal work on the jaw. This allows for time to address areas that impact the jaw. Intraoral (wihtin the mouth) treatment is performed with gloves and is all done within the comfort of the client. Intraoral work is not necessary for TMJ treatments, but it does allow for direct treatments on muscles that are not accessible externally.
